2010 Flatland Fun Fest POSTPONED
We regret to inform you that the 2010 Flatland Fun Fest has been postponed due to some unforeseen circumstances. The city was requiring us to pay for a one-million dollar insurance policy that we could not afford. Instead, the Flatland Fun Fest is now a part of the National Championship of College Skimboarding in Vilano Beach, FL, and will be held on Saturday April 10th at low tide in the afternoon after the wave riding heats have finished.
New Corporate Members Announced!
The NCSA’s group of Corporate Members is continuing to grow! The four most recent additions are Apex Skimboards, Freak Traction, Wave Zone Skimboards, and Zap Skimboards. Be on the lookout for sick things from these four companies!
Southern Shoot-Out Results and Media
The Southern Shoot-Out took over South Florida on February 27th, as over 40 competitors from 10+ teams gathered to compete. With cowboy gear, a guest professional judge, and even prime time media coverage, this contest was definitely one of the best we’ve run. The unique “shout-out style” 2 man heats created a really fun and challenging competitive environment for participants, and really helped to contribute to the overall uniqueness of the event.
In the end, FAU came away with the victory, clinching 2 of the top finishing spots. The full results were:

David Behar appointed as Marketing Director
The NCSA Staff has gotten a little bit cooler with the addition of someone famous to our list of officers. David Behar, renowned photographer and skimboarder extraordinaire, will be taking on the role of Marketing Director for the NCSA. David has helped out in the past with logo and flyer development, and is really excited to be joining the team.
Dave remarked, “It feels great to be a part of a solid organization in the skim industry and make some big bucks doing it. We get huge salaries right?” Hopefully he’ll make some awesome fliers for us before he realizes the truth.
David is a staff photographer for Foreverskim Magazine, and shoots freelance photos for skimboarding companies across the nation.

Dewey Adam LeBlanc appointed as Regional Director
As the NCSA continues to grow, there is need for more help. The NCSA Executive Board recently decided there was a need for a Regional Director to help with the organization of the South Regional Skim Contest that the NCSA will be holding in February. Once we had decided that a new officer was needed, it was an easy to choose who would fill the spot…
Dewey Adam LeBlanc is the Founder and current President of the Skim Club at Florida Atlantic University. He has organized multiple skim events, such as the Skim for a Cause event held at Deerfield Beach. As captain of the Island Water Sports skim team, and Head Instructor of their weekly free skim lessons, his involvement in the sport is nothing short of amazing. As the NCSA continues to grow, we are really looking forward to having Dewey on board.
UNF Osprey’s: the newest team to join the NCSA
The NCSA is happy to announce the arrival of our 6th official team: The University of North Florida Ospreys.
David Behar, hailing from South Florida, started this club as a freshman. When asked how he felt about the brand new club, he said he felt “good.” The most exciting things about UNF having a club for David are “many things.” (Dave’s a man of few works.) Seriously though, David said, “I feel that the club will benefit the skimboarders at UNF by bringing them together. If you ever want to skim with some one, you can just ask any one in the club.”
He also added “I’m most excited about the NCSO this year. I think we’ve got a good shot of winning.”
The NCSA Staff is extremely excited to have the Osprey’s joining the NCSA, and is looking forward to the Jacksonville team continuing to raise the level of competition at all NCSA events.
